Young Guns Registration Extended

Attention Hereford Young Guns, there is still time to register for the upcoming conference in Kansas City, Aug. 22-24. Visit HerefordYoungGuns.com to register online or call (816) 842-3757 to register by phone. Hotel accommodations are available at Harrah's North Kansas City Hotel and Casino. To reserve a room call (816) 472-7777 and ask for group code S8HERFD.

An action-packed conference is planned with a lot of valuable information for Hereford producers. Keynote speaker, Mark Mayfield, will be a highlight of the conference on Wednesday evening. The group will also hear from Kevin Good, Cattle-Fax, regarding the economic state of the industry.

Ethanol is a buzzword in the industry and Ron Plain, University of Missouri, and Kelly Bruns, South Dakota State University, will talk about how ethanol production is affecting beef producers.

Marketing and efficiency are top of mind for Hereford seedstock producers and the conference includes time devoted to these topics. Representatives from Amana Farms and Circle A Angus Ranch will talk about why they incorporated Hereford genetics into their program.

Hereford Young Guns will be the first to hear updates from the American Hereford Association’s (AHA) ongoing research project with Harris Ranch, Lacey Livestock and California State University. This project and others are highly important to the future of the breed, therefore AHA staff want the Young Guns to hear firsthand how Herefords are measuring up.

Register today!

Thank you to the PTP Alliance, Purina Mills, Gallagher Animal Management Systems and Vermeer Manufacturing for sponsoring the 2007 Hereford Young Guns Conference.

Rockrose Grill & Bar Serves CHB®

The newest restaurant to carry Certified Hereford Beef® (CHB) opened its doors July 5 in Shawnee, Kan. Rockrose Grill & Bar is family owned by five brothers with a long history in the restaurant business. Ryan Toubia, general manager, and Nathan Toubia, chef, wanted a unique product with great flavor at a decent price. After trying several other branded products they knew right away that CHB was what they wanted for their restaurant.

“We wanted something that we didn’t have to charge $35 a plate for,” Ryan says. Rockrose carries the KC strip, filet, ground chuck, and a few other cuts for some of its signature dishes.

Rockrose Grill & Bar is located at 22730 Midland Dr. in western Shawnee, Kan., and can be contacted at (913) 825-3880. Check out its Web site www.rockrosegrill.com.
