Hereford Demand is Evident as Cow Inventory Numbers Increase
Hereford bull demand in recent months seems to be reflected in a rise in cow inventory numbers as reported to the Association. As of March 20, cow herd enrollment through the Whole Herd Total Performance Records (TPR®) program is up 7,265 cows compared to a year ago. And more enrollments are being processed. A total of 68,754 cows have been enrolled.
Registrations remain steady to slightly higher compared to the same period last year.
CHB Is Now Available In More Locations
Certified Hereford Beef® demand is growing in Texas and the Southwest! One of CHB LLC’s newest, but fastest growing distributing partners, Affiliated Foods based in Amarillo, Texas, is introducing the brand
to many cow-country locations. Affiliated Foods’ distribution areas consist of central and west Texas, New Mexico and Colorado and include strong independent stores that pride themselves in quality, fresh food offerings with hometown flare.
Just a few of the new stores rolling onto the program include John Brooks Supermarkets, based in Albuquerque, N.M., Peppers Supermarket, of Deming, N.M., LaGree Food Stores, based in Pueblo, Colo., Byers General Store, of Byers, Colo., and Rays Grocery of Breckinridge, Texas. CHB LLC staff continues to negotiate with additional stores within the Affiliated Foods Distribution group, and hopes to get them up and rolling soon. Just keep your eyes open; you never know when CHB might be offered in your community!

Nominations for the Hereford Heritage Hall of Fame and Hereford Hall of Merit are due May 1.
The Hall of Fame honor recognizes Hereford breeders who’ve dynamically influenced the direction and advancement of the Hereford breed. Hall of Merit recipients aren’t necessarily Hereford breeders but have, in their own ways, greatly influenced the Hereford breed and the cattle industry.
