AHA Launches New Tools for Online Registry

The American Hereford Association (AHA) has added new tools to the enhanced Internet accounts and online registry system. These features have been developed based on comments and responses to a survey conducted earlier this year regarding the AHA’s online registry service.

The new features focus on making the system easier to navigate and easier to understand as well as provide Whole Herd Total Peformance Records (TPR™) breeders an overview of what information has been recorded on a specific year’s calf crop and what information still needs to be recorded.

To see these new features, log on to your AHA Internet account. The first screen you see will show the new “user control panel,” which makes it much easier to locate reports or files of certain types and makes it much easier to view an existing batch you may be working on or create a new batch to submit new information.

For Whole Herd TPR breeders, the “calf-crop tracker” seen in the upper portion of the control panel will provide a detailed breakdown on specific season calf crops so you can see what has been recorded at the AHA and what still needs to be updated. Detailed instructions for using these new features can be found in the lower section of the control panel. You don't have to be an online registry user to benefit from using the “calf-crop tracker.” However, online registry users will find it easy to create batches of needed information from the to-do lists in the “calf-crop tracker.”

If you have any questions regarding these new tools or the online registry in general, contact the records department at 816-842-3757 or

AHW, NOP Members Approve Combination
to Form National Hereford Women

The National Hereford Women (NHW) was born Oct. 31, 2009, as the result of an overwhelmingly positive vote by the American Hereford Women (AHW) and National Organization of Poll-ettes (NOP) memberships.

The vote was the culmination of 10-months of preparation by the Strategic Planning Committee. The members considered the proposal and approved it to move forward as ONE.

Two significant changes were made to the proposal as a result of member input and board action during the Kansas City meeting.

  1. A simplification of the name to National Hereford Women in response to member suggestion and approval at the membership meetings
  2. A change in dues to $20 per year or $400 for lifetime in response to financial forecasts discussed at our board meeting

Otherwise the proposal as presented in early September was unchanged and will be the plan the group will follow during the coming year.
