The tournament will be a four-man scramble with shotgun start and awards will be given to first through third-place teams and a Chin-up Award. There will also be Longest Drive, Longest Putt and Closest to the Pin Contests with many other fun side games as well. There will be a meal after the tournament and many door prizes will be given away.

Event coordinators are currently looking for event sponsors to help offset the costs of the prizes, meal and golf fees, as well as to benefit HYFA. Sponsors will have their names and/or logos on door prizes, flags, tee boxes, golf carts and scorecards depending on the level of sponsorship.

Benefit Auction Being Planned for Scott Downing
Hereford breeder Scott Downing was in a serious ranching accident this week working cows in Oregon. He has been hospitalized in Medford, Ore., and is in an induced coma to deal with swelling.
Katie Colyer, LiveAuctions.tv and friends of the Downing family are planning an online benefit auction to help offset some of the medical expenses the Downing family is facing during Scott's hospitalization and recovery. The auction is still in the planning stages, however if you would like to contribute an item to the upcoming auction please contact Katie Coyler at email@example.com or 208-599-2962.
Scott and his wife, Tracy, live in Butte Falls, Ore., and they have two boys, Lane and Brandt. Look for more details about the auction in future issues of Hereford eNews.

Hall of Fame, Merit Nominations Due May 1
Nominations for the Hereford Heritage Hall of Fame and Hereford Hall of Merit are due May 1.
The Hall of Fame honor recognizes Hereford breeders who’ve dynamically influenced the direction and advancement of the Hereford breed. Hall of Merit recipients aren’t necessarily Hereford breeders but have, in their own ways, greatly influenced the Hereford breed and the cattle industry.
For more information on how to nominate deserving individuals for the 2010 induction at the AHA Annual Meeting in November, contact Mary Ellen Hummel at 816-842-3757.
