JNHE Final Entry Deadline is June 1

2012 Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) entry information is available online at The entry page includes links to the online entry website, health requirements as well as JNHE rules and regulations. The final deadline is June 1 and all entries must now be done online.

Other June 1 youth deadlines include: photo contest entries, National Junior Hereford Association director candidate nominations, Advisor of the Year nominations, Mentor forms and Creative Design entries.

June 1 is Fall 2012 Data Deadline

All birth, weaning, yearling and ultrasound data must be submitted by June 1 to be included in the fall 2012 EPD evaluation.

England Joins HPI staff

Jessica England, Columbia, Mo., started Monday as the new Hereford Publications Inc. (HPI) advertising coordinator. She graduated in May with a bachelor’s of science degree in agricultural journalism from the University of Missouri.

England has worked as an intern for both MayeCreate Design, Columbia, Mo., and Osborn & Barr, St. Louis, Mo., where she gained valuable experience in advertising by writing, editing and working with clients. For more about England, see

Clanton Serving as Junior Activities Intern

Bailey Clanton, Bucyrus, Kan., is serving as the 2012 American Hereford Association (AHA) junior activities intern. Clanton graduated from Kansas State University in May with a bachelor's degree in agriculture economics and hopes to begin a career in the livestock show and management business after her internship.

Clanton grew up in the seedstock industry and she, along with her family, owns and operates Chisum Livestock raising Shorthorn and Maine Anjou cattle. She has shown on a national level and in addition to the showring, Bailey has held various leadership roles on the state and national levels. For more on Clanton, see

Registration Open for 2012 Cattle Industry Summer Conference

Cattlemen and women need to register today to attend the NCBA's 2012 Cattle Industry Summer Conference to secure a spot at what will be an action-packed conference. The conference, which will be July 25-28, in Denver, will give cattle farmers and ranchers an opportunity to engage in NCBA's grassroots policy process while also networking with and learning from other cattlemen and women from across the country.

American Hereford Association (AHA) has released five educational videos. These are the first in a series of educational videos that will be posted to the Hereford YouTube channel and are available at

Association Requests CVV Code

The American Hereford Association (AHA) is now requiring the CVV (security) code on all credit card transactions. In an effort to provide additional security and reduce expense, this new credit card requirement is effective immediately.

Support Youth, Become a Member of Hereford Foundation Club

HYFA supporters will have the best seats in the house at the 2012 JNHE in Grand Island, Neb.

Hereford enthusiasts can join the Hereford Foundation Club and have access to the “club” that overlooks the showring in Grand Island as well as earn other perks for their support of Hereford youth.

There are four levels of membership but benefits include a special membership pin, access to the VIP parking area, and admittance to the club area, which overlooks the showring.

For the highest levels of membership, unlimited guests are also allowed in the club area where beverages, snacks, and hors d'oeuvres will be served all day July 5-8 (show days). Members will also be featured on promotional materials and signs as well as acknowledged in the post-publicity of the event. Of course, all membership fees will be considered a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) donation to HYFA.
