PRIDE

While the Junior National Hereford Expo promotes learning aspects of showing cattle and educational activities associated with relative contests, the NJHA's annual PRIDE (Program for Reaching Individuals Determined to Excel) Convention focuses on leadership development. Junior members, parents and advisors from all parts of the country participate in the event each year. During the three-day event, close to 100 participants listen to nationally known speakers and participate in junior board workshops, which assist in the enhancement of the individual's leadership talents, communication skills and beef-industry knowledge.

Typically PRIDE is held at land grant universities, however in 2008 the event traveled to Washington D.C., and participants got to experience our Nation’s capital. In 2010 the leadership convention will take place in Boise, Idaho, Aug. 2-4 and participants will have the opportunity to tour some of the top Hereford ranches in the country and get an up close look at production agriculture in the Northwest.
