Hereford Hall of Fame, Merit Inductees Honored

Charlie Boyd, Harold and Pat Carswell, Earl Forrest, Marvin and Ella Meek, Gino Pedretti and Harold Sidwell were inducted into the Hereford Hall of Fame Oct. 29 in Kansas City, Mo., during the American Hereford Association (AHA) Annual Meeting.

Hereford Breeders Celebrate 50 Years in the Business

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —  In celebration of 50 years in the Hereford business, five breeders were honored as Golden Breeders Oct. 29. Jack Ward, American Hereford Association (AHA) chief operating officer and director of breed improvement, presented the awards at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting in Kansas City.

Online Auction Raises $31,726 for Hereford Research

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The support continued for Hereford research during the second online auction Nov. 8. Forty-two items were sold grossing $31,726. A portion of the proceeds was shared with the Hereford Youth Foundation of America, resulting in $26,350 directly benefiting Hereford research programs.

“Thanks to the supporters of the Hereford Research Foundation we are able to continue and invest in industry leading research,” says Jack Ward, American Hereford Association chief operating officer and director of breed improvement.

Breiner Elected American Hereford Association President

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – David Breiner, Alma, Kan., was announced as the new president of the American Hereford Association (AHA) during the Annual Membership Meeting in Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 29.
David began his Hereford career in 1972 when he helped start Mill Creek Ranch, Alma, Kan., after graduating from Kansas State University.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fiscal year 2011 was excellent for Certified Hereford Beef (CHB) LLC, posting the second highest year in volume at 40.5 million lb. sold. Foodservice was the big winner with 47% growth and a total of 11 million lb. sold.

The event hosted by the Jim and Marcia Mickelson family raised a total of $292,000 to support Hereford youth.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) invites Hereford breeders, enthusiasts and supporters to save the date and make plans to attend “The Harvest” fund-raiser event at Kunde Family Estate in Sonoma, Calif., Aug. 19-21, 2011. The Harvest will be hosted by the Jim and Marcia Mickelson family with all proceeds going to HYFA’s $5 million capital endowment campaign to benefit scholarships and education for Hereford youth across the nation.
