BuyHereford.com Auction to Raise Funds for Hereford Research

 KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A variety of unique items and opportunities will be up for bid July 23 on BuyHereford.com with all proceeds benefiting the Hereford Research Foundation. Since 2010, BuyHereford.com has been hosting annual auctions featuring unique lots to benefit the foundation, and each has garnered more than $20,000 to help fund Hereford research and breed improvement projects.

'Hereford Nation' Breaks Records

The Hereford Nation took Grand Island, Neb., by storm last week as it hosted the record-setting 2015 VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE). During the event June 27-July 3, more than 800 youth from 38 states exhibited a record-number 1,441 entries.

Record Numbers of Hereford Youth, Cattle Head to Grand Island

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­— Hereford youth, their families and supporters, will travel to Grand Island, Neb., for the 16th annual Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) sponsored by VitaFerm®, a product line of BioZyme® Inc. The event will be from Saturday, June 27 till Friday, July 3.

Ward Named Executive Vice President

 KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­– Jack Ward has been named Executive Vice President (EVP) of the American Hereford Association (AHA). He has served as AHA’s chief operating officer and director of breed improvement since he joined the AHA team in 2003.

AHA Announces Monthly “Hereford Shots” Photo Contest

If you enjoy taking photos of Hereford cattle this contest is for you. Each month the American Hereford Association (AHA) will announce a theme for photo submissions. Entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts. The panel will select the top five submissions that will then vie for a “People’s Choice Award” on the BuyHereford Facebook Page.

AHA Announces 2014 Dams, Sires of Distinction

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­– For 2014, 2,499 Hereford cows from 724 Hereford performance herds in 42 states earned the honor of being named a Dam of Distinction by the American Hereford Association (AHA).

Hereford Champions Named in Fort Worth

KF Blue Chip 7Z won the grand champion horned bull title at the Fort Worth National Hereford Show Feb. 2, 2015, during the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, Texas. The grand champion polled bull honors went to C ETF Wildcat 4248 ET.  

Clint Rusk, Stillwater, Okla., judged the 223-head show. The Hereford show honored Coates Ranch of Mertzon, Texas, and the polled honoree was Paul Funk of Copperas Cove, Texas.

Denver 2015 press releases

The Hereford breed set records in the Yards and on the Hill during the National Western Stock Show Jan. 14-17. A total of 730 Herefords were exhibited throughout the three-day event an increase of 98 head compared to 2014. There were 314 head in the open show, 138 in the junior show, 39 pens of bulls, 21 heifer pens and 10 carloads. Below are press releasses related to the Hereford activities in Denver. AHA Announces Spring 2015 Gold TPR Breeders

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­—One hundred and four dedicated Hereford breeders achieved Gold TPRTM (Total Performance Records) status for spring 2015, according to the American Hereford Association (AHA).
          
Also, the AHA has released the updated EPDs for spring 2015. The EPDs and the updated Trends, Traits and Distributions report is available online at Hereford.org.

AHA Releases New Udder EPDs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­— With the release of the spring 2015 Pan-American Cattle Evaluation (PACE), the American Hereford Association (AHA) has released two new expected progeny differences (EPDs) for udder quality.
