New AHA Leadership Announced

David Breiner, Alma, Kan., was announced as the new president of the American Hereford Association (AHA) during the Annual Membership Meeting in Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 29. Cliff Copeland, Nara Visa, N.M., was selected to serve as the 2012 AHA vice president.
Delegates elected three new Directors during the membership meeting. Fred Larson, Spring Valley, Wis.; David Trowbridge, Tabor, Iowa; and Eric Walker, Morrison, Tenn., will serve four-year terms on the 12-member Board.

AHA Announces 2011 Dams, Sires of Distinction; Number of qualifying cows up 17%

For 2011, 2,285 Hereford cows from 707 Hereford performance herds in 44 states earned the honor of being named a Dam of Distinction by the American Hereford Association (AHA). The number of dams qualifying for this prestigious honor jumped 340 head since last year.

Hereford Association Adds New EPD; 2012 Sire Summary Online

Thanks to Hereford breeders’ commitment to the Whole Herd Total Performance Records (TPR) Program, the American Hereford Association (AHA) has created a new expected progeny difference (EPD). The new trait, called mature cow weight (MCW) is designed to allow breeders to select sires that will either increase or decrease mature size of cows in the herd. Also, the Spring 2012 Sire Sumary is now online.
